ARTIST’S INFORMATION AND SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

 

ARTISTS’ CHECK-IN

r      Location:  Coupeville Arts Center, 15 NW Birch St, Coupeville, WA  98239, 360-678-3396 (for driving directions: visit www.coupevillearts.org and click on Directions button).

r      Times

§         Wednesday, September 5, 2007, 3-6pm

§         Thursday, September 6, 2007, 8am-4pm

§         Friday, September 7, 2007, 8am-4pm

r      Criteria for Painting Surfaces

§         Minimum size of painting surfaces -- 8" X 10".  No maximum size.

§         REQUIREMENT: All painting surfaces used in the competition must be stamped.  These surfaces can be stamped at Check-In.

§         To expedite check-in, you may ship your painting surfaces to the Coupeville Arts Center (see address above) for pre-stamping and pick them up when you check-in.  Please write your name on the back of each surface.

PAINTING COMPETITION

r      Thursday through Saturday, September 6-8, 2007

§         Paint throughout Whidbey Island’s beautiful Ebey’s Landing National Historical Preserve and the Town of Coupeville.

§         REQUIREMENT: Artists must wear the 2007 Plein Air Painters’ U.S. Open apron (included in the Check-In packet) or have it prominently displayed on their easels.

r      Saturday, September 8, 2007, 9am – 11am

§         Painting check-in at Historic Crockett Barn (1056 Crockett Farm Rd., Coupeville, WA 98239) for Juried Gala/Silent Auction Entries. Limit: Two paintings per artist.

§         REQUIREMENT: All paintings must be framed and wired for hanging.

§         REQUIREMENT: All work must have been painted during the competition on a STAMPED painting surface.

r      Saturday, September 8, 2007, 2pm – 3pm

§         Artists to PICK UP paintings not accepted for Silent Auction at Historic Crockett Barn.

GALA and SILENT AUCTION Saturday, September 8, 2007

r      Location: Historic Crockett Barn

r      Artists are guests of Plein Air Painters’ U.S. Open (for spouses/non-artists tickets $50).

r      TIMES:

§         5:30-6:30pm: Exhibition Preview for Members of the Coupeville Arts Center (with tickets)

§         6:30-8:30pm Gala and Silent Auction

§         8:30-9:30pm Artists to PICK UP unsold work at Historic Crockett Barn

PUBLIC EXHIBITION and SALE:  Sunday, September 9, 2007

r      Location: Historic Crockett Barn

r      9:00am - 11:00am Artists’ Check-in at Crockett’s Barn for Juried Exhibition and Sale.

§         Limit: Two paintings per artist. Work not painted during the competition is allowed.

§         REQUIREMENT: Paintings must be framed and wired for hanging.

r      12:00noon-4:00pm

§         Public Exhibition and Sale

r      4:00-5:00pm

§         Artists to PICK UP unsold work at Historic Crockett Barn
